Walking in Barcelona

Yesterday I walked my way over to the Picasso Museum (which is free after 3pm on Sundays) and on the way saw a Roman wall, a 1,000 year old church/monastery, and one of Gaudi’s buildings. It wasn’t very impressive from the outside, but it costs a bundle to get in and the line was ridiculous.

I also stopped for some overpriced tapas, but the people watching was worth it:

Papitas Bravas (classic potatos with spicy sauce)

Goat cheese and tomatoes

I had to wait 40 minutes to get in the museum but it was worth it. His early stuff is incredible and also to see the progression towards Cubism was very very interesting. One of my favorites of his early work:

OH Now we’re in Spain. Duck kebabs with rose petal jam – I’m with ya. And the cute simple skewered tomatoes with goaty-square cheese. Ooooooooh. Tapas! Yeah too bad they get to be expensive. Thank you for that. Now that I’m drooling over the keyboard I better eat some breakfast. Gracias!

Wondering about your first day of class, and how European Spanish is different from Latin-American Spanish (besides the lisp). The city looks phenomenally beautiful. . . . . . OLD, the way most Americans can’t imagine. Also thinking about your footwear. I talked to your mom a little about the importance of the right boot for the conditions, especially since it sounds like much of your walking on the camino was in mud. While you’re healing, it might be worthwhile to do a little research on what works best, and reassess. Be good to yourself. FEEL, don’t force.
