Rain rain rain. All day today. We decided to walk along the road instead of the muddy paths, but most of it was long straight bits that were painful to walk along. The wind came and went but was always in our faces, never at our backs. I sang ‘singing in the rain’ im my head most of the day. I almost got bit by a dog, I had to face off with him for awhile until Diana caught up and threw a rock at it. At that point we had both had enough of being soaking wet (and had already walked about 23k) so we caught a lift on the last boring straight bit to Maubourguet with a mother and son in a tiny car!
I’m also sick. I was thinking yesterday maybe it was allergies with all the spring things in bloom, so I took some antihistamines today which seemed to help at first, but by the time we got here I felt so awful that I went straight for a nap. I haven’t slept well the last two nights (mind being way too active thinking about planning and French and who knows what) so the nap did me good. I’ve developed a productive cough, but it seems to go away with sudafed so I’m still hoping its just a bad cold and I’m being bothered by the post-nasal drip and not anything worse. Diana has been a lovely companion, she sings while she walks and has a similar pace to me. She’s very upbeat and we laugh together a lot. She has mothered me a bit, making me take off my wet things before laying down for my nap so they can be washed.
I’m still happy on the whole and enjoying myself, it was just a long day! I didn’t take many pictures with it being so grey which is too bad because its beautiful country. We passed into the Hautes-Pyrenees department today! We should be close after another 2 or 3

I hope you can walk away from your cold soon. And I hope the clears. Thinking of you.
Hope you feel better soon!!! Happy Easter a day late!
Well I’m feeling wet and tired right along with you. We seem to have similar weather here. Ick. I hope you get to ditch the cough or cold soon. The sicklies and the bad weather don’t last forever. It’ll get better. Try singing that song, Tomorrow, from the musical Annie. “Oh the sun will come out – tomorrow …” Like in my book. Betcha you can’t get it out of your head once you start it. Cheers!
