Someone was asking me recently how big the “sailing stones” are at the racetrack in Death valley. Here Tulip stands next to one. He isĀ 2.5″ tall. He was impressed.
Tulip and I went backpacking in Colorado last week. Summiting the Continental Divide, he got very excited to see what he thought was the polar glaciers in the distance. He was disappointed to discover it was only a cloud bank, but we both agreed at least it was a pretty one.
Tulip, as ever my faith-fullest companion, shared my birthday with me and my friend Daisy high up in the White Mountains. There were gifts (a new compass!), cupcake surprises, whisky, a good cigar, and, most importantly, wilderness.
